In 2017, Sintons hired two apprentices to begin a six-year period of training in house that leads to eventual qualification as a solicitor. This was a new initiative by a consortium of North East law firms (including Sintons) to offer a more accessible route into the legal profession and has seen the creation of 13 solicitor apprenticeships in the region. These firms came together under the NESA umbrella – North East Solicitor Apprenticeship.
The initiative was the first of its kind in the North East, and has been hailed for its unique and innovative approach into opening up the legal profession to young people.
About the apprenticeship:
- A six-year programme while employed leading to qualification as a solicitor
- Study part-time with a leading University
- Law degree incorporated and awarded after four years
- Academic support from CILEx Law School
- Final assessment is the SRA’s solicitors’ qualifying exams
