Lasting powers of attorney must be registered before they can be used by your attorneys. It is recommended that lasting powers of attorney are registered whilst you still have mental capacity so that the documents can be used by your attorneys immediately if you become unwell.
Lasting powers of attorney are registered at the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) and the process usually takes around eight to ten weeks depending on how busy the OPG are at the time. A solicitor can make the application on your behalf.
For anything further, one of our specialists would be delighted to meet you either in our office or in your own home to talk through your requirements and answer any questions. Please contact us at any time.
