Health & welfare LPA
A health & welfare LPA enables you to choose an attorney to make decisions about your health and personal welfare should you no longer be able to make those decisions yourself. This includes decisions about:
- your daily routine – what you eat, wear and who can visit you;
- where you should live; &
- your medical care and treatment including consent to refuse life sustaining treatment.
This lasting power of attorney must also be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used. However, unlike the property & financial affairs lasting power of attorney a health & welfare lasting power of attorney can only ever be used by your attorney if you have lost mental capacity to make such decisions yourself. By making the health & welfare lasting power of attorney now, you have the opportunity to nominate someone you trust, who knows your wishes, to make such important decisions for you.
For anything further, one of our specialists would be delighted to meet you either in our office or in your own home to talk through your requirements and answer any questions. Please contact us at any time.
