Sintons staff volunteer at North Tyneside Art Studio (NTAS)

A group of Sintons staff have volunteered their time to help the North Tyneside Art Studio (NTAS) transform its studio space.

NTAS is an award-winning charity based at the Linskill Centre in North Shields, which uses art and creative activities to help transform the lives of people experiencing mental health problems. It delivers a number of activities including daytime workshops and outreach sessions.

The volunteer group, consisting of head of marketing Charles Penn, solicitor Fiona Campbell, trainee solicitor Laura Tennet, business analyst Helen Cunningham and secretary Jennifer Richardson, spent their time assisting with the redevelopment of the internal space.

Michael Cunliffe, artistic co-ordinator at NTAS, said the Sintons team were a huge help to the renovation efforts.

“As part of improving our service, we decided to make changes to the layout of our studio so that we could accommodate more people having individual space to work. After months of consultation, a plan was in place but this was going to be the biggest physical change to the studio for a long time and would have a big impact on people’s ‘safe’ spaces,” he said.

“Bringing outside volunteers into the studio to help with the changes could have presented another emotional challenge, but Sintons were fantastic. The volunteers treated the space with real respect and worked brilliantly with people from the studio and made everyone feel like they were part of a team, without any labels around their mental health.

“Please accept a massive thank you from everyone here at the studio for your fantastic work, literally and figuratively helping to pull down walls.”
