Sintons back Eagles’ new signing
Mike Morsell joined the BBL’s most successful-ever team during the summer, and the 23-year-old is in his second season as a professional player, after establishing himself through his college basketball with Towson in the Colonial Athletic Association Conference.
The guard/wing has been hailed for his great potential and moves to Newcastle from Finland’s Korisliga, where he spent last year with Lapuan Korikobrat.
Mike has been given the backing of Sintons as he embarks on his first season as an Eagle, with the law firm being longstanding sponsors of the North East’s most successful sports team.
Previously, Sintons has sponsored head coach Fabulous Flournoy, but his departure over the summer to join Toronto Raptors has meant they have now lent their support to the Eagles’ young new arrival.
Mike said he is delighted to have joined Newcastle Eagles and said he has been delighted with the support he has received so far.
“I’m just loving it here. The support of the players, staff, fans and sponsors at Sintons has been incredible. The people are really, really nice and I couldn’t ask for more in that respect,” he said.
“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to play for the most successful team in league’s history. Many things drew me to the Eagles but what attracted me the most was their winning tradition and being located the in the beautiful city of Newcastle.
“I know it’s highest level of professional basketball in the UK and one of the premier basketball leagues around the world. I bring a team first attitude with the ability to guard multiple positions and score from all three levels on the floor.”
Mark Quigley, managing partner of Sintons, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mike to Newcastle Eagles and to the North East and are pleased he is settling in so well. He arrives with a reputation for his great potential and we are very pleased to lend our support to such an ambitious and talented young player, who we hope to sponsor for years to come as he builds his career and reputation with Newcastle Eagles.”
