Parental responsibility

This refers to all the rights, duties, powers and responsibilities a parent has for their child.

It is crucial that you have this because it relates to important decisions such as:

  • General welfare;
  • Medical treatment;
  • Schooling; &
  • Religion.

Not all fathers have parental responsibility and to obtain it would require a formal agreement with the mother or an application to the Court.

Therefore, if you are concerned that you do have it or have any queries about parental responsibility and how it works on a day to day basis, you should make an appointment to see us.

For anything further, one of our specialists would be delighted to meet you to talk through your options and answer any questions. Please contact us at any time.
