Parents who divorce or separate need to try and agree arrangements as to where a child should live, the child's day to day care, health, education, financial support and any other special arrangements which are needed for their child or children.

If they have parental responsibility, these decisions should be made jointly.

When parents separate, it is preferred that the children will live with both parents at different times of the week.

This should ensure a 'level playing field' regardless of who the children spend more time with.

If you are struggling to reach an agreement, mediation may be of assistance. However, if you are unable, then you should seek legal advice and possibly an application to the Court or for arbritration may be necessary.
