We require a 3 years’ + PQE Solicitor to join our busy Commercial Property team to provide advice on matters of property, charity and ecclesiastical law to the Anglican Dioceses of both Newcastle and Carlisle, the Methodist Church and other ecclesiastical and charitable organisations.
The role will provide a good mix of work enabling the successful candidate to run their own files and support a wider team.
Examples of our work:
- Selling and buying ecclesiastical property
- Advising lay and clergy generally in relation to matters concerning ecclesiastical and charity property
- Leases including the grant of new leases and renewals
- Developments projects including overage
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside a team with long established extensive experience across faith-based institutions and other charities, as well as general commercial property expertise.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, highly organised and enthusiastic, who can work quickly and accurately, often within tight timescales, with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will have knowledge of charity law and ecclesiastical law, as well as experience of dealing with commercial property transactions.
There is no requirement for the applicant to attend or be a member of a church, although an interest in charitable organisations/Church of England and/or historic buildings would be favourable.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
